With the holidays quickly approaching, here is an easy alternate to offer for those dinner desserts. Pears and pomegranate is a perfect light option and is a festive seasonal fruit cup. This versatile dish can be made with fresh cubed pears or you can slice and spice them up. Either way, you’ll want to top them off with a little whipped cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 4 – pears
  • 1 – pomegranate
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar* optional depending on pear’s sweetness

Directions

Cut pomegranate in half and remove 1/4 cup of seeds. Peel, core, and cut the pears into cubes. Toss in a bowl with lemon juice. Combine the cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar* then mix into the fruit.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to blend the flavors. Serve in individual dishes, and garnish with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
