Just across the river in Shepherdstown, WV the American Conservation Film Festival is held at Shepherd University. For four unforgettable days, the festival features 28 inspiring films that share stories of hope, resilience, and the individuals making a difference for our planet.
Kick off your St. Patty’s Day celebration on March 15 with the Quad State Beerfest: ShamRocked! Over thirty-three regional breweries with more than 140 beers, ciders, spirits and wines for the tasting. Dozens of vendors and LIVE MUSIC!
Ring in the Spring with a short trip to Winchester for the 98th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. The festival is ten days long from April 25 – May 4, with a series of more than 50 events such as the Old Town Wine & Fine Arts Festival, Apple Blossom Carnival, dances, parades, band concerts, sporting events, luncheons, parties, and much more. There is something for everyone!
On you way to or from Winchester that same weekend, you can stop by the Blue Ridge Arts & Crafts Festival at the beautiful Sam Michael’s Park in Harpers Ferry. Admission is free to shop at the 70+ Blue Ridge artisans with 100% handcrafted gifts, live music, and food trucks!
Do you like PICKLES? Feed your craving at the Pickle Fest on May 17-18. Two fun-filled days of games, vendors, music, and of course eating pickles. There will be pickle fries, pickle pizza, pickle on a stick and so much more.
With summer just around the corner it’s time to start thinking of the tropics and sunning on the beach. Get into that tropical bliss at the annual Wine Fest: Island Vibes on June 7. Featuring over 130 wines, spirits, seltzers, ciders, and beers with more than 100 total vendors. Awesome food, live local music, karaoke, fun games and more!
For over thirty years, the Contemporary American Theater Festival has brought the ultimate theater experience to Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia. During the month of July the CATF produces the newest plays in America. Plays produced at CATF have gone on to have robust lives including regional productions, Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, and even film adaptations.
Celebrate those dog days of summer with a righteous food and music experience at the Rock’N Flavor Fest. On August 10, immerse yourself that classic rock music (Foreigner, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd) while taking in the offerings of over 75 regional flavor fanatical vendors, from seafood, to BBQ, to desserts, to an impressive array of regional beer, wine & spirits.
Close out the fall with Sharpsburg’s own FARMFEST & Farmer’s Market at Green Hill Farm. It’s a farmer’s flea market! 200 vendors selling anything farm related, handcrafted, homemade, homegrown, antique and unique. The market has food trucks, live music, and lots of animals.
With all these festivals, anytime is a fantastic time to visit Sharpsburg and experience the local food, music, and heritage. What a wonderful way to spend some time during your Antietam getaway.
